Before healing others, heal yourself

How are you doing? It’s been a while since we were last in contact, so I hope that this finds you cruising with ease into the end of 2018?  I was asked to write for a blog. You may even know it if you are living in Luxembourg: healthylux.lu

Their blog theme of the month November is: before healing others, heal yourself.

Healing comes from a place of your soul, when you are ego-less. Before getting to that place, you may need to do some serious repair and maintenance work on yourself. Healing is a work on the energies – and how do you want to help healing someone else, if your energies are weak?

I thought that I might share this with you too 😉

Before healing others, heal yourself

But, wait, am I broken?
The question is, why should your even bother with healing yourself? Or, more precisely, how do you detect that you are broken in the first place?

Life is a set of experiences. Moreover, the way you react to these experiences will determine who you are. This, in turn, depends greatly on your mind. The problem is that if you don’t train your mind, you will keep acting or reacting according to the exact same patterns over and over again.

Human conditioning
Your mind interacts with the different electromagnetic fields that surround you.

This is not only your aura, but also the energies of the people surrounding you, even the energies of your village and your country. From child onward, you have been conditioned to think in a way, to act in a certain way, and to believe certain things over others. Your set of beliefs is what makes your world.

As your mind tries to process a thousand thoughts per blink of the eye, it is very clear that you simply cannot process so much data. Most of what you don’t consciously perceive ends up in your subconscious. This will create certain patterns which you will be using, throughout your life, to respond to the world.

But surprise!
Life works completely independent from you. The only person responsible for creating a reality is yourself.

Emotions
Now dig deep into your mind, and think about how you react to certain experiences. Anger? Fear? Anxiety? Pain? Depression? Ask yourself, in which situations do I always react in the same way?

Emotions are a direct result of your thoughts. If the same emotion appears over an over again, when you are faced with a situation, then something is most likely broken. In fact, unless you are a highly enlightened yogi, then the chances are big that you require some maintenance once in a while 😉

There is a direct chain of link between your broken parts and how this affects others. You will be giving your children your patterns and belief systems; in fact, some of them are already transmitted through your DNA. The more you work on yourself and the more you change, the greater you can be to others.

Lead by example
Fact is that healing others is best done by leading through example.

Why? Because as you change, the energies around you will change, and the toxic relationships in your life will gradually move away from you, and you will be attracting what you send out.

That’s the way it works. Even the best physicists couldn’t determine in scientific experiments why certain particles where attracted to each other… but if you compare a visual print of the universe and compare it against a map of your brain, you will be able to see that there are many visual similarities. Everything is energy, and exchange of energy.

So, if you really want to be able to help or heal others, it is important that the flow of your energies is flawless.

Self-healing is about the flow of the soul
From the perspective of Kundalini Yoga healing means to make whole:

The art of healing, the art of ecstasy, the art of God-consciousness has millions of names in mystic terms. It has to do with rhythm and reality. When the body is in rhythm, there is ease. When the body, or any part of the body goes out of rhythm, there is dis-ease.
Yogi Bhajan

Kundalini Yoga gives you the techniques and awareness to stay healthy. You gain a strong immune system, vital glands, a strong nervous system, good circulation, and an awareness of the impact of your habits. This foundation gives you energy and lets you deal with the mental and spiritual facets of your life.

The key to the process of healing is the flow of your soul energy. From inside your being, energy is pouring into the other person; but this energy requires to be ego-less.

Healing Meditation

1. Sit in Easy Pose.

2. Put your left hand on your navel point.
3. Your right arm is by your right side, elbow bent, with the palm facing forward. You are holding your right hand up as if you are taking an oath.
4. This meditation is done with Gurnam’s “RaMaDaSa, Healing Sounds” recording. You may chant out loud or meditate silently.
5. The movement of the kriya is timed with the chanting of “Raa Maa Daa Saa Saa Say So Hung” by Gurnam.

At “Raa”, slowly begin moving your right arm forward from the starting position and continue slowly moving so that your arm is straight out in front of you with the palm facing downward at “Hung.” The movement begins with “Raa” and is completed at “Hung.” Then the right arm moves back to the starting position by your side and the movement begins again at “Raa.” The right arm moves as if giving a blessing.

Start with 11 minutes and work up to 31 Minutes.

Yogi Bhajan said that this is a meditation to practice for the rest of your life. It is a simple exercise that can give you the power to heal. You may do this kriya using your left hand to hold the hand of the person you want to heal. The right hand moves as described above. You may chant the mantra out loud or mentally and silently. OR: If the person needing healing is very ill, shaking and shivering, you can place your left hand on their navel point and place your right hand on their pituitary. You may chant the mantra out loud or mentally and silent.

In Conclusion

Yogi Bhajan says that whether you are a medical doctor or a chiropractor or another type of healer, life has a challenge that you have to be ego-less. You have to just become, without self, a healer at that moment, for that purpose. Healing is not there to serve your ego; it comes from a state of compassion, of compassionate meditation that the healing activity of God, within the being, flows.

At the end of the day, it’s about your soul. And your soul is about you, because you are your soul. If your soul is broken, not in flow with infinity, how do you want to help others heal theirs and find a way back to the flow of life?

When people start serving the soul, which is everywhere and nowhere, they start becoming the soul; and the soul is a part of God.
Yogi Bhajan
